GOD'S (NOT "the Jews'") HOLY DAYS
and the Reason Christians Should Observe a Certain One of them.

IF YOU WILL OBSERVE the FEAST of TRUMPETS, Then YOU MIGHT NOT CAUSE the DEATH of SOMEONE when the RAPTURE, OCCURS

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, concerning the feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are MY feasts. (Lev. 23:2) The Blue Letter Bible (KJV)


Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall do no servile work therein. (Lev. 23:24-25a)


Why don't Christians observe the Feasts and Festivals of God? In Lev. 23:2 above, God says these are HIS feasts. That should make it clear that they are not for the Jews only.

They are for the Children of God! They were given to ALL of God's children through God's peculiar people, the JEWS. And yet Paul and Peter tell us that WE who believe in His Messiah are a part of that peculiar people!

But how many Christians today even know what God's seven Holy Days are, much less when they occur and what they represent?

Each of the seven festivals (Lev. 23) represents a specific time in the MESSIANIC AGE.

The first feast in the Jewish religious year is Pesach (Passover). This is the time of the sacrifice of the Messiah.

Second is the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This begins with the Pesach sacrifice and lasts for 7 days, concluding with the third, the Feast of Firstfruits. This covers the burial and resurrection of the Messiah, the firstfruits of the resurrection of the dead.

Seven weeks and one day after Pesach is the fourth, the Feast of Weeks, Shavuot, or Pentecost. This is when the Law was given to Moses and when the Holy Spirit came upon the believers in Jerusalem. "Pentecost" comes from the Greek and simply means "the fiftieth day."

The fifth major festival is the Festival of Trumpets. More on this below.

Ten days later, the sixth, Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, represents the return of the Messiah and judgment.

The seventh, 5 days later, is the Festival of Sukkot, or Booths, when God DID and WILL dwell with man.

Now, the only festival which has no obvious equivalent in the messianic era for most Christians is the Festival of Trumpets, called today Rosh HaShanah, or the Jewish New Year. In biblical days, blowing the ram's horn trumpet, or shofar, called the people to assemble, and was an alarm and a call to battle.

The first 4 of these festivals occurred on God's predetermined days at the times appointed in Leviticus. The next one, contrary to popular belief, CANNOT occur on just ANY day of the year, because God has set a certain SEASON just as he did the other 6 festivals.

The Jews call this "the DAY THAT NO MAN KNOWS" because of the method used to determine it in days of old, and it is celebrated on TWO days for that reason.

"Of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." (Matt. 24:36) Paul referred to "the last trump," which refers to this time when "the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." (1 Cor 15:52)

If you expect to "meet (the Messiah) in the air," when do you think a good time for "the last trump" to sound would be? Personally, I believe that it will be at God's appointed time of Yom Teruah, the day of blowing the trumpet! But we don't know exactly when that day will be, do we? It can be either of 2 days in any year, so we don't know the day. And since the Holy Day is observed for TWO days, that means 48 HOURS of not knowing the hour!

But we ARE told to watch the seasons. "Can you not discern the signs of the times?" (Matt. 16:3) "But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief." (1 Thes. 5:4) "Now learn a parable of the fig tree (Israel); When his branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near." (Matt. 24:32)

Now, if we observe GOD'S HOLY DAY, Yom Teruah, as a sabbath with no work being done, we should be at home, not driving a car or flying an airplane or steering a boat.

Because, if you are traveling and then are suddenly "changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye," you leave that vehicle out of control! What happens to a person who is not a part of God's kingdom who is hit by it and killed? Will you have prevented that person from knowing the Messiah and the eternal life He brings?

Will God hold you accountable at the Judgment Throne for not observing his commands???
